Chapter 1

inspired
/ɪnˈspʌɪəd/
adjective
1. of extraordinary quality, as if arising from some external creative impulse.

It all started when we met the editor of Gritty Pretty Magazine, Eleanor Pendleton, at a shopping centre. When we walked in, we thought that we would just learn some fall beauty tips, maybe get a photo, but we didn’t think we would get inspired. And yes we did do all those things plus receive some cool freebies but we also made a friend. Ashleigh, the blogger behind The Blonde Silhouette, graced us with her bubbly personality and warm heart. She asked me if I had a blog, and I explained that I did once upon a time, but it just never worked out. I thought, hey I don’t have a knack for this; I don’t possess all of the skills needed. Sure, I love to write in a conversational tone but I can’t take photos to save my life.

So Ainsley and I get home from the event and we’re sitting on the couch watching Say Yes To The Dress, our favourite show to binge watch, which requires no brainpower whatsoever. And then it occurred to us. I’m studying PR and Ainsley is studying styling, we’re a matched made in blogger heaven. So Ainsley grabs the camera, we grab our stuff and get in the car and figure out the little details on the way to our location. And now here you are, reading the first chapter of our blog.
This is the beginning of something great.
(Hopefully)

I feel like there is this hidden rule that most people follow, in which you don’t wear dresses that are baggy and reminiscent of a bed sheet. Well I’m here to prove that you can wear a bed sheet and look good doing it. My friends’ thought I was crazy when I bought this dress, and I’m not going to lie, I was hesitant to wear it. It is so loose fitting, but I fell in love with the softness of it and the crisp white material.

The key to making any baggy dress look flattering is to inch in the waist. This dress easily went from looking like something that one of Jesus’ disciples might wear, to looking high street. A simple belt allowed it to crumple, fold and flow in all the right places. I also rolled up the sleeves to add a little bit more dimension.

I hope that I have inspired you to fear not of the baggy dress, and to conquer it and look gorgeous whilst doing so.
But for now, this is good-bye...
